The executive governor of Ondo state Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu has suspended the caretaker chairman of Ondo west local government Mr Ebenezer Akinsulire over what was described as gross misconduct and misappropriation of resources. The statement which was made public by the Chief-Press-Secretary to the governor, Mr Segun Ajiboye, said the suspension became necessary when series of complaints and petitions by party members and council workers became too much.
Mr Ebenezer Akinsulire has been accused several times by members of his party of diverting the local government funds into private use as well as abuse of power. The Chairman popularly known as 'Eben' has been asked to hand over all government properties in his possession with immediate effect, and the Director of Local Government Administration has been directed to take over till further directive. However, the governor has set up a committee to look into the matter and come up with an appropraite recommedation.
