It has been revealed that Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger, has told his backroom staff that he will continue in his role next season as the manager. This news broke out after series of crisis meetings were held. It was expected that Arsene Wenger will be convinced to step down at the end of this season, after a tumultuous campaign but it is now clear the Frenchman has no reason to want to throw in the towel.
In same vein, the club fans under the aegis of Arsenal Support Trust, held an AGM yesterday, Monday 5th March, where the fans voices their concerns about the downturn of fourtunes at the club and their resolve to see Arsene Wenger gone at the end of the season. Speaking at the AGM, former club great, Lee Dixon expressed disappointment at the recent performances of the team and opined that a new, young coach has to come in and change the atmosphere. 88% of the fans voted against Wenger's continued stay as manager. Remember that Chief Executive, Ivan Gazidis, have being working silently to change the set up at the club which saw the recruitment of Raul Sanhelli, who takes on the Director of Football role. Fahmy takes over from Dick Law as negotiator while Sven Mislintat takes on the role of head of recruitment. At the moment, the board have neirher said anything nor made a decision public on Wenger but rumours going around is that a former Italian, PSG, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich's coach, Carlo Ancelotti is hot favourite to take over from Wenger. Other names as Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Joachim Loew are also being rumoured.
