It is no longer a breaking news that governors across 36 states of Nigeria are owning workers and pensioners salaries, this action which has melted untold hardship on the innocent workers and the members of their family, 24 governors under the platform of the ruling APC have been mandated to contribute #250 million each for the party’s upcoming congresses and national convention.
The party has fixed the month of may for it’s national wide elective post and convention
The APC governors expected to contribute N250 million each are :
Bindo Jibrilla (Adamawa State), Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Kashim Shettima (Borno), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano) Aminu Masari (Katsina State), Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi) and Yahaya Bello (Kogi).
The rest are: Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Umaru Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa State), Abubakar Bello (Niger), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo State), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Ibrahim Geidam, (Yobe), and Abdulaziz Yari, (Zamfara).
According to news available to ataaoja.com only the state of Lagos has continued to meet its statutory obligations of paying workers, while other 23 governors under the umbrella of the party remained largely unable to meet their obligations despite bailout funds and #1.9 trillion Paris club windfall extended to all states by federal government.
This is not immediately clear how this sum of money were arrived at but according to sources some governors are already complying by paying while some are believed to be reluctant perhaps based on their states economic realities.
The spokes person of the party Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi when contacted debunked the news which he termed as illogical and baseless.
