Former Minister for Housing and Urban Development and governor of Ondo state; Dr Olusegun Rahman Mimiko is set to take a shot at the presidency in next year’s presidential poll. The 63 year old former governor who was succeeded by the incumbent governor; Rotimi Akeredolu is to make an official declaration on the 14th.
The former governor who has been off political scene after the end of his tenure on the 24th of February 2017 has yet again chosen Labour Party, the political party under which he contested against the then governor Late Olusegun Agagu in the April 2017 gubernatorial poll in Ondo State before decamping to PDP prior before the 2015 presidential election as his platform for contesting for the presidency.
Ataaoja can exclusively report that the former Secretary to the state government under Late Olusegun Agagu has been making series of wide consultations in his quest to become Nigeria’s next president.
Olusegun Mimiko whose popularity is fast fading away due to recent accusation of sponsoring thugs and urchins to vandalize and forcefully oust ADC from where they currently hold their weekly political meeting is seeking to hold talks with some National southern leaders in PDP.
The former who governor recorded massive developments in the health and education sectors in his eight years in Office had been erstwhile rumored to be aspiring to be a lawmaker representing the Ondo central senatorial district at the National Assembly is not going to be the first person from his Senatorial district to contest in a presidential election as former Legal luminary and human rights advocate Late Ganiyu Oyesola Fawehinmi from the same Local government was a candidate of the National Conscience Party in the 2013 presidential election won by Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo.
