The winner of the just concluded governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State , Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Sunday revealed that he would resign his appointment as Minister of Mines and Steel Development in two weeks time.
Fayemi who was on Saturday declared winner of the APC primary election having polled a total 941 votes has been facing stiff criticism over not resigning his appiontment as a minister and at the same time running for a gubernatorial election.
Speaking on Channels Tv about his victory, Fayemi revealed that he has concluded plans to resign in two weeks time. He also disclaimed the information going around of having given Five hundred thousand Naira each to over 1000 delegates that he has camped.
He said “I am not an accidental candidate. The delegates know me. I didn’t have to give money to delegates, I was able to convince them on what I have consistently done.”
The governorship election is slated for July 14.
